Our Organization's History

Our Leadership

The Northside Athletic Association was founded in 200??? by Man-Man Johnson and Reggie Miller, both natives of the Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Former athletes who remained passionate about sports, Pooky and Reggie scouted and assembled a team of coaches who shared their zeal and love for sports.

The city of Pittsburgh is a town full of die hard fans of professional, college and high school sports! Men and women alike love our sports teams and we take great pride in cultivating and developing our youth in a variety of sports.  This perfect set of ingredients worked together perfectly to facilitate the organization with focusing on and serving the under-served and at-risk youth within the inner city.   Pittsburgh is affectionately (and accurately) called "The City of Champions" so what better neighborhood to continue the legacy of raising up champions than the Northside!

Within the last couple of years, the association has grown tremendously with a couple hundred youngsters cycling through the program.  A number of student athletes are receiving great exposure which are opening that lead to receiving scholarships to some of the best high schools in the area that also have exceptional athletic programs.

NSYAA is committed to making a significant impact on our youth.  The expectation is success in all areas of life no matter the circumstances.  Sports and athletics serve as the vehicle used in order to develop character, teach discipline and instil a healthy work ethic while developing and expanding our educational programs, tutoring and providing mentors.

We are dedicated to providing the resources and support that will give our kids the tools to be exceptional and successful.
