Director of Finance
Michael A. Knight
Founder and Executive Director of the NorthSide Youth Athletic Association (NSYAA), Eugene has worked tirelessly to change the culture of the inner-city and is committed to raising the expectations of both parents and the youth as it relates to athletics, education, community involvement and overall success despite the challenges they may encounter within the inner city of Pittsburgh.
Born and raised within the very community he is serving, Eugene knows firsthand the despair and misfortune that plagues residents who are striving to provide a better life for their families. Crediting his mother, Darlene Goodwine, for instilling in him the tools that he still uses today – perseverance, persistence and passion, Eugene continues to see the fruit of his mother’s three P’s in his life and he takes pride in teaching the three P’s to the youth he serves both in and out of season.
Overcoming many challenges, a promise and a commitment was made that would significantly impact hundreds of children within the very community he hailed from. Helping under-privileged and under-served youth to avoid the many pitfalls and maneuver around the mistakes common to the inner-city, the Northside Youth Athletic Association is that promise and Eugene’s commitment is seen year-round both on and off the fields and courts.
